It seems like I'm always telling stories about stuff that happens in calculus other than calculus. Trust me, I do learn stuff in that class, it's just never as interesting as the other stuff that happens. Take for instance, what happened recently when my teacher passed out holiday pencils for everybody. My friend (applying to MIT regular decision) was feeling creative and decided that instead of using his pencil for its intended purpose, he would (logically) build a trebuchet. So. . . .he did. It was made out of pencils and electrical tape and flings the roll of electrical tape about 6 feet. Quite impressive if I do say so myself. I did not donate my pencil to the cause, I instead decided to color an entire piece of binder paper black. It was beautiful. Oh, here's a pic of the trebuchet. It didn't have a counterweight because nothing was dense enough to do it, so where his finger is at is where you push down in order to launch the tape.
